Lucky Dollar Turns Into A Million Dollar Futurity Bucking Bull
Cora Pollick of Atascadero, California did not realize in early October quite how lucky she was about to be and what was in store for her. Listening to the radio on her drive home from watching her niece practice cheerleading she heard an offer she couldn’t resist. Cat Country 96.1, a local country radio station, was giving out a pair of tickets to the PBR finals for the final weekend of the PBR Finals to the first person that showed up at a Home Depot with a dollar bill that had their call numbers, 961, on the bill. Cora quickly called her sister and they drove to the nearby Home Depot and found a lucky bill with the right numbers to win the PBR Tickets.
“I have always loved the PBR,” stated Cora, “I started watching bull riding with my Grandmother years ago and have never stopped watching.” Having been to the finals a few years earlier she knew that she would have a really good time, so she bought tickets for the Friday night performance also.
Walking through the concourse that fateful Friday night before the event, Cora noticed the Exclusive Genetics booth and thought it would be fun to play their fan contest. Exclusive Genetics has put together a great team of bull riders that they sponsor and they had nine bull riders competing at the finals, such as Valdiron de Oliveira, Ryan McConnel and McKennon Wimberly. This fan contest is held not just during the finals, but at each Built Ford Tough event that the PBR holds. Exclusive Genetics designates one of their bull riders for the contest each night and lets fans guess what they think the bull rider will score. During the evening one name is drawn and that PBR fan’s name and their prediction is announced right before the Exclusive Genetics bull rider of the night attempts his ride.
Friday night was round 5 of the PBR Finals and McKennon Wimberly had Little Yellow Jacket, Jr. Cora felt lucky and she guessed that McKennon would ride for 89.75 points. “I was so excited when they called my name before McKennon rode” said Cora, “I just hoped McKennon would ride.” Well ride McKennon did and for the EXACT score that Cora guessed, 89.75.
That lucky dollar that got her to the finals allowed Cora to make a lucky guess that allowed her to win an Exclusive Genetics Million Dollar Futurity Bucking Bull for the 2013 futurity. “It is so funny,” Cora laughed, “I had told my son the last time I came to the PBR Finals a few years ago that I was going to go to one of those auctions and come home with a bull. Well, that time I didn’t bring home a bull, but this time I sure did!” Cora has never owned any bulls, but she plans on having a really good time with the one bull she has just won, as this is really a dream come true for a PBR fan like Cora.
Billy Jaynes, CEO of Exclusive Genetics, was pleased with Cora’s win and said, “Our motto has always been, ‘You can be more than a PBR Fan’. We are excited to have Cora join the hundreds of other PBR Fans we have helped to own a bull and become more than a PBR Fan.” Cora plans to take advantage of Exclusive Genetics other slogan of “No Truck, No Trailer, No Experience Necessary,” as she will allow Exclusive Genetics to arrange for full care and training of her bull once it is born. Cora also opted to upgrade from the Level 3 draft pick that she won to a Level 2 draft pick, so that she can be at all the fun events that Exclusive Genetics holds in Las Vegas during the PBR Finals next year.
It really is surprising how far some people can make a dollar go these days!
